I was honored to have been invited to La Opinión's 90th Year Celebration. It was hosted in Los Angeles, at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel.
Earlier this year I was asked to take part in a research project for the newspaper. My task was to examine the decade 1946-1956. I was to go through old archives and choose one of the most important aspects of that decade and analyze how the newspaper covered that story.
The Chavez Ravine incident blew up the media in the 1950s. Hundreds of low-income Mexican American families were displaced from their homes. Chavez Ravine lies under what is known today as the Dodger Stadium. I reached out to the famous Arechiga family, who were the last to leave the property when they were being evicted from their homes. I worked intensively on this project; days of searching through old newspaper archives. That is why I was delighted to have been able to celebrate not only mine by my colleagues achievements as well.

There were numerous guest speakers ranging from Kamala Harris, United States Senator, Antonio Villaraigosa, former Mayor of Los Angeles and David Ryu, in the Los Angeles City Council.
Overall, the Gala was an amazing experience, it was nice being surrounded by such talented individuals. I could not be more thankful for this opportunity.
